Important Notes:
- Peaceful and social: Paleatus Corys are shoaling fish and should always be kept in groups of 4–6 or more. Keeping just one or two can cause stress or hiding behavior.
- Ideal for community tanks with other non-aggressive fish like tetras, rasboras, guppies, or gouramis.
- Minimum tank size: 20 gallons (for a proper group).
- Temperature: 68–74°F (cooler than many tropical fish, which makes them great for unheated tanks in warm climates).
- pH range: 6.5–7.8.
- Substrate: Sand or smooth gravel is ideal; avoid sharp substrates that can damage their sensitive barbels.
-
Paleatus Corys are bottom feeders. They do well on:
- Sinking pellets or wafers (high-quality, protein-rich)
- Frozen/live foods like bloodworms or brine shrimp
- Occasionally blanched vegetables (like zucchini or spinach)
- Important: Don’t assume they’ll survive on “leftovers”—they still need targeted feeding.
